The Isle of Her - Big Sur Jade Love Affair

About 9 years ago, I found my lost heart alongside the coast of Big Sur. I felt a happiness that awakened the childlike spirit in my soul, and I was blessed to feel that magical wonder many call Jade Fever. Big Sur has blessed me dearly, and I set an intention that I would connect and appreciate every hunt while honoring each phase of this process. That humble joy slowly developed into The Isle of Her.

I recall the moment I learned of my grandmother’s cancer diagnosis, and like many, looked to avoid. I often found myself running down the coast in search of that special feeling only to realize she was and always will be alongside each visit. She’d ask my mom and sister my whereabouts to answer her own question, saying “Ah yes, she is in the mountains, she’s happy, she's home.” She always blessed my ventures and shared my excitement upon my return, and she'd glow as I dumped my fanny pack of jade goodies. I can still feel the energy of her smile as she watched me wire wrap small pieces and light up with joy as I finished with excitement. She will forever be the healer that truly understood the medicine that Big Sur provided me. Through her transition, Big Sur again helped me find the love I thought I'd lost and helped me find the bright light I thought could only dimly shine.

During one fated trip down to Jade Cove, I received a message in the form of a beautiful California Condor.  I spent years on the hunt, but it was nearly a year after my Grammy's passing that it finally happened - I met the beautiful #46. I heard through the grapevine, Ventana Wildlife Society has condor bio pages that offer info on each bird, IF you could ID their tag. Of course, THIS was one of the only times I didn’t have my camera! Quick thinking and I was able to put my phone up to my binoculars to capture a clear shot of her tag! Confirmed #646Kodama - and with that, I had to learn everything I could about this beautiful creature! Big Thanks to Ventana for being an incredible resource!

Meeting my precious girl Kodama shifted how I decided to manage my business. I am and have been fortunate to receive countless gifts from Big Sur, so I wanted to return that love in my own way. I’ve committed to sharing a percentage of sales to benefit our majestic California Condors through Ventana Wildlife Society, in the form of Condor Adoptions. I name each ring after a special condor heart in Big Sur linking them back to their bio page provided by Ventana.  I hunt for my jade treasures along the rocky shores of her coast, cold mist chilling my core. I create my jewelry with that story in mind, letting each piece speak volumes, their energy tangible,  loud. I feel soul in every motion, from the hunt, meditation, design and creation, I feel love. An extension of my heart flows through my fingertips and pure love is shared. Enchanted by the magic that is The Isle of Her Spirit, I connect - from my heart and hands to you.
